At Linden Lodge we understand that for so many of our patients, being able to feel confident in your smile and having straight, white teeth is important. There are many different techniques and technologies available these days which also makes orthodontic treatment discreet so nobody need even know you are having it. After a thorough consultation with us we will help you decide on the right treatment. We offer the following:
Invisible aligners are a novel method of straightening teeth using virtually invisible removable aligners. It is a very popular treatment option as there are no wires or brackets, the aligners are comfortable to wear and they’re convenient as they can be removed for a social occasion.
How do invisible aligners work?
Invisible aligners consist of a series of nearly invisible removable aligners that you change every two weeks. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by your orthodontist. This treatment is planned using computer software that helps predict the movements; it can also show you the results you can expect at the end of treatment.
Our practice is an established provider of invisible aligners and we have considerable experience with this type of treatment.
Clear ceramic braces are a popular choice for many teenagers and adults who want a discreet alternative to traditional fixed braces to achieve a healthier smile. Ceramic braces work just like metal braces, only they blend in with your teeth for a great look. They are a perfect combination of strength and beauty, so you can keep smiling during and after your treatment.
Many adults have memories of big clunky braces from their youth. Luckily, times have changed and even traditional braces are far smaller, have a lower profile and are easier to attach than ever before. In this day and age, traditional braces are very durable and have a smooth finish, making them easier on the lips and gums. Many teenagers, and even adults, love the fun they can have with traditional braces by showing them off with coloured elastics. Conventional metal braces are reliable, clinically efficient and dependable as well as being very affordable.
Functional braces are often the ideal treatment for children who have prominent upper front teeth. This is usually caused by an imbalance in the jaw position. In a growing child, a functional brace can be used to help create a more harmonious facial profile by guiding the way the upper and lower front teeth bite together.
How do functional braces work?
At Linden Lodge, we favour the Twin Block brace, a removable brace that postures the lower jaw forwards whilst restraining the upper jaw. It is a very effective way of correcting prominent front teeth. It is also a very well tolerated brace; once patients have adapted to their Twin Blocks it is a very comfortable treatment option.
Following functional braces, it is nearly always necessary for a second phase of fixed braces to correct the alignment and bite of the teeth.
Functional braces are usually fitted during the adolescent growth spurt. This shortens the time between the functional and fixed brace phase as there is no need for a pause between treatments. This also reduces the overall length of treatment and the cost.
